“Growing the cocoa tree is not just our business, it has been our family tradition for decades.
We have been producing the highest quality cocoa for more than 30 years and export worldwide.

Hacienda La Sofia is a family-owned cocoa farm located close to the slopes of the Andes Mountains in Ecuador, where the plantations receive 12 hours of sunlight year-round.

We have been running our farm since 1991, for three generations, and today we are one of the most innovative haciendas in the region.

Hacienda La Sofía is home to more than 50 native species.
Therefore, the mission of Esteban (father) was to create a job to promote sustainable agriculture – nature-based farming, socially responsible and respectful of native species.

From the beginning, Esteban laid the foundation for conscious farming practices, not just to get certifications, but because it is his philosophy.

With this in mind, he created a production process from growing cocoa trees to transporting loaded bags of cocoa that is based on a tracking method, which is only possible if the same farmers control the plantation, the daily work in the field, harvesting, the fermentation and drying process and delivery from the field to the final consumer. It is necessary to be able to monitor each of these steps to guarantee the quality of each bean.”
