The Blue Lotus Flower (Nymphaea Caerulea) is known for spiritual growth and enlightenment, purification, rebirth, love and sensual beauty. Blue Lotus has soothing, calming and uplifting effects on the (energy) body. The sacred flower attunes us to the higher (spiritual) spirit by opening the crown and third eye chakras, raising consciousness and helping a person achieve visions through deep meditation. In ancient Egypt, the Blue Lotus grew as a water lily on the banks of the Nile and was considered sacred. The ancient Egyptians had deep reverence for it because of its medicinal and spiritual properties. Blue lotus was worshiped as a symbol of the origin of life because it grows with its roots deep in the mud of the riverbed. The lotus is a flower and symbolizes transformation, turning negative into positive, and of “rising from the mud of one’s life. Long considered a symbol of the sun, the flower closes at night when the sun god Ra withdraws and rises, to open in the morning light.

Blue Lotus was used as an initiation sacrament invoked and applied in ceremonial and temple rituals for the elevation of the spirit, attainment of higher states of consciousness and connection with the divine.
